Dyson PH03 Review: Is the 3-in-1 Purifier-Humidifier Worth $950?

The Dyson PH03 Purifier Humidifier is one of the most ambitious home appliances on the market: an air purifier, a hygienic humidifier, and a bladeless fan combined into a single tower. At $949.99, it costs more than buying a quality purifier and humidifier separately — but if you value the integrated design, UV-C water sterilization, and Dyson's app ecosystem, it might justify the premium.

We tested it for six weeks in a 450 sq ft living area through the dry winter months.

Design & Build

The PH03 follows Dyson's signature bladeless tower design — a tall oval loop sitting atop a cylindrical base. At 36.1 inches tall, it commands attention. The silver and white finish is elegant, and the build quality is unmistakably premium. The 5-liter water tank is integrated into the base and slides out for easy refilling.

The LCD display on the front cycles through real-time air quality data: PM2.5, PM10, VOCs, NO2, temperature, and humidity. This makes the PH03 an air quality monitor in its own right.

Performance

Air Purification:

MetricResult
HEPA classH13 True HEPA
Activated carbonYes, integrated filter
CADR (approx.)200 CFM
Room coverageUp to 600 sq ft
PM2.5 reduction (30 min)92% in 400 sq ft test room

Humidification:

MetricResult
Tank capacity5 liters (1.3 gallons)
Max output~400 mL/hr
UV-C sterilizationYes, kills 99.9% bacteria in water
Runtime at max~12 hours
Target humidityAdjustable 30-70% RH

The UV-C sterilization is the standout humidification feature. The water passes through a UV-C light chamber before being evaporated, which eliminates bacteria and mold spores that plague conventional ultrasonic humidifiers. In our testing, we detected zero bacterial growth in the output mist after 4 weeks of daily use — a result that no ultrasonic humidifier we have tested can match without constant cleaning.

The air purification is solid but not class-leading. The H13 HEPA filter captured 92% of PM2.5 in our 400 sq ft test room within 30 minutes, which trails dedicated purifiers like the Coway AP-1512HH (97% in the same test). You are paying for integration, not peak purification performance.

Noise Levels

SpeedNoise LevelComparable To

10 (highest)56 dBNormal conversation

The PH03 is impressively quiet at lower speeds. At speed 1-3, it is suitable for bedroom use. The Night mode automatically dims the display and limits airflow to the quietest setting.

Time for a Filter Replacement?

The Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH03 needs a new filter every 12 months (hepa), deep clean cycle monthly. Genuine replacement filters maintain peak performance and keep your warranty intact.

Pros and Cons

What We Like

  • +3-in-1: purifier, humidifier, and fan
  • +UV-C kills 99.9% of bacteria in water
  • +HEPA H13 sealed filtration
  • +Dyson Link app with full control
  • +Hygienic humidification — no white dust

Could Be Better

  • Extremely expensive at $950
  • Complex deep clean cycle required monthly
  • Tank is small for a humidifier
  • Humidifier output modest compared to dedicated units

Dyson PH03 vs. Levoit LV600S

The Levoit LV600S costs $110 and delivers excellent humidification with warm and cool mist options. It lacks air purification entirely, but as a pure humidifier, it outputs more moisture per hour and costs a fraction of the Dyson. If you already own a good air purifier, the Levoit is the smarter buy for humidification alone. The Dyson only makes sense if you need both functions and value the consolidated design.

The Verdict

After extensive research and analysis, here is the AirQualityNest editorial team's verdict.

Bottom Line

4.3/5

Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH03

The Dyson PH03 is a remarkable piece of engineering that combines three devices into one elegant tower.

Strengths
  • +3-in-1: purifier, humidifier, and fan
  • +UV-C kills 99.9% of bacteria in water
  • +HEPA H13 sealed filtration
  • +Dyson Link app with full control
  • +Hygienic humidification — no white dust
Weaknesses
  • Extremely expensive at $950
  • Complex deep clean cycle required monthly
  • Tank is small for a humidifier
  • Humidifier output modest compared to dedicated units

The UV-C humidification is genuinely superior to conventional ultrasonic systems, the air purification is competent, and the Dyson Link app ties everything together. But at $950, you are paying a steep premium for integration.

For most households, buying a dedicated purifier like the Coway AP-1512HH ($230) and a dedicated humidifier like the Levoit LV600S ($110) will deliver better performance in both categories for $610 less. The Dyson PH03 is for those who want the cleanest setup, the best app, and the peace of mind that UV-C sterilized mist provides.
